These slow cooker black-eyed peas are flavored with jalapeño pepper, cumin, ham, and bacon for a spicy side dish. Perfect for potluck dinners and barbecues!
Ingreadients:
- 6 cups water
- 1 cube chicken bouillon
- 1 pound dried black-eyed peas, sorted and rinsed
- 8 ounces diced ham
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, and diced
- 1 jalapeño chile, seeded and minced
- 2 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 ½ teaspoons cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt, to taste
Direction
- Pour water into a slow cooker; add bouillon cube and stir to dissolve.
- Stir in black-eyed peas, ham, bacon, onion, bell pepper, jalapeño, garlic, cumin, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt.
- Cover and cook on Low until beans are tender, 6 to 8 hours.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
